The mission of the Binghampton Development Corporation is to improve the quality of life in the Binghampton Community. As a community-oriented and faith-backed entity, the BDC is working to be an instrument of God’s love to reach those in economic oppression.

Rooted in Binghampton. Built for its future.

Binghampton is located at the geographic center of Memphis — two square miles, 12,111 residents. It began as an independent, racially integrated rural town in the late 1800s, and transformed as the city grew east and manufacturing jobs departed.

The BDC was formed to reverse that trajectory. Working alongside community leaders, residents, and faith organizations, we work to mitigate blight, build hope, and restore justice through investment in people and property.

In 2023, BDC sold Tillman Crossing and Hope Community Apartments to Nickson General Contractors — a company started by BDC job-training graduate Octavious Nickson, who grew up in Binghampton and now has projects at Shelby Farms, Ghost River Brewery, and Mississippi River Park.
