The Binghampton Development Corporation (BDC) was founded in 2003 as an expanded commitment by Christ United Methodist Church to the Binghampton community.  The BDC is an independent, non-profit community development corporation with its own Internal Revenue Service’s 501 (c) 3 status.  The support base has significantly expanded to a number of individuals and several foundations, including the Community Foundation of Greater Memphis and the United Way of the Mid-South.  In FY2007, Christ Church provided 27% of the BDC’s income.

The Binghampton Development Corporation’s mission is work to build a healthy Binghampton community by facilitating the revitalization primarily through housing and economic development.

As a community-oriented and faith backed entity, the Binghampton Development Corporation (BDC) is working to be an instrument of God’s love to reach those in economic oppression after the loving example of His son, Jesus Christ.  The BDC finds its mandate for outreach to the economically oppressed in the “true fast” outlined in Isaiah 58 and claims God’s promise as our enabling, sufficient power.
